"Dynamics of segment determination in Drosophila
embryo."
Abstract
Dr Reinitz performs both
theoretical and experimental studies on mechanisms of segmentation genes
expression during early Drosophila embryogenesis. Theses studies are aimed
on a better understanding of the process by which maternal gene product
gradients ultimately give rise to the segmental pattern by means of regulatory
cascade of transcription factors encoded by zygotic segmentation genes.
Dr. Reinitz uses the confocal microscopy for to obtain the qualitative
characteristics of segmentation genes expression patterns. These data are
used as a state variables in the dynamic model for genes expression pattern
formation. To fit the model to observer levels of segmentation genes products
the parameters are adjusted by least-squares optimization. This optimization
is carried out by the method of simmulated annealing.
The validity and utility
of the model has been demonstrated by its successful application to several
important problems o embryo development

The
gasdynamics effects of the cloud developing are discussed. The vortex dynamics
is essential feature of such phenomenon understanding. Formation of the
buoyant vortex ring and its propagation laws is one of the most complicated
problems of the classic hydrodynamics and burst cloud is the bright sample
of these laws implementation. Condensation processes, aerosols transport
and scavenging are described. Report is illustrated by results of axisymmetric
simulations animated using TECPLOT 7.0.

Models
for computational simulation of dilute gas-particle mixture flows are reviewed.
Main attention is payed to the dispersed phase. Three approaches to simulation
of "gas" of particles are discussed. First, the full Lagrangian
approach, when particles are considered as the collisionless continuum,
and the Lagrangian variables are used not only in the impulse, angular
momentum and energy equations, but in the equation of the mass conservation
law as well. This approach is applicable to the case of regular motion
of particles and provides very high accuracy when calculating particles'
concentration field. Second, we consider the method of Crowe that is the
unique one applicable to the case of stochastic motion of particles without
collisions between particles. Third, the Direct Simulation Monte-Carlo
method for dispersed phase with particle-particle collisions. Examples
of calculations are presented.

Python
is a modular object-oriented scripting langauge, which is used for such
tasks as system administration, text/data processing/filtering, office/database
automation, Internet programming. Current report concerns the new popular
domain of Python: automation of scientific applications for experimental
data processing/interptetation. Easy interface Python->C(Fortran,Pascal,...)
enables one to separate the time critical though slowly evolving parts
of application from more variative higher-level tasks such as controlling
the processing strategy. For IHPCDB, where data processing tasks could
be run for days and weeks, such a tool seems useful and productive.

seminar will be held in the director's office.
Abstract:
The direct simulation of water vapor flow near cometary nucleus was carried
out. The influence of indicated factors on the flow are discussed: - the
boundary conditions on the surface of the nucleus; - the unevenness of
the surface and gas evaporation; - the Knudsen number.

An

A
general scheme and the algorithm of parallel direct simulation Monte Carlo
for non-stationary flows of rarefied gas on massive- parallel computer
system with shared-memory is described. The efficiency of parallelisation
for DSMC on massive-parallel computer system SPP-1600 (8 CPU) with shared-memory
is investigated on the example of two physics problems. High efficiency
of parallelisation of calculations is demonstrated. The new physical results
which were obtained by simulating of indicated problems are briefly discussed.

Stationary
periodical and localized solutions to the nonlinear adsorption-diffusion
equation
Abstract
An
approach for obtaining of exact stationary solutions in terms of elliptic
functions to equations approximating the nonlinear adsorption-desorption
equation of the problem of adsorbates growth on a surface is proposed.
The approach is based on the reduction of a hyperelliptic integral to an
elliptic one. Solutions obtained by means of this approach are discussed.
The domains of physical parameters' values are found, for which the corresponding
solutions are bounded and physically meaningful.
