ANSYS Warning Messages
ANSYS likes go give you warning messages, particularly when meshing or solving. In general, warning messages come in two different colors: RED message windows should be taken seriously and may require a little thought. They usually require you to make a choice. There are too many possible reasons for RED message windows to discuss them all here. YELLOW message windows can usually be ignored. These messages usually complain about element shapes and/or sizes. With all FE analyses you should refine your mesh (smaller element size) until further refinement does not affect your solution significantly. Mesh refinement should reduce the frequency and number of these YELLOW mesh warning messages. For conduction in moderate geometries, the shape and to some degree the size of the elements will not be too critical to your solution and warnings of this type may be ignored. When performing thermal-structural analyses (as in Lesson 4) the size and shape of elements becomes much more critical since the shape of the model changes as a result of structural stresses. The following is another common YELLOW warning message that usually comes up during post-processing:
I have no idea why this would be important. We almost always want to include more than one type of material in our model. Ignore it.
